Quiq is a distributed task queue backed by Redis to process jobs in background. It relies on asynchronous IOs to process multiple jobs simultaneously. The event loop is provided by the Async library and many other gems of the Socketry family.
Em-resque is a version of Resque, which offers non-blocking and non-forking workers. The idea is to have fast as possible workers for tasks with lots of IO like pinging third party servers or hitting the database. The async worker is using fibers through Synchrony library to reduce the amount of callback functions. There's one fiber for worker and if one of the workers is blocking, it will block all the workers at the same time. The idea to use this version and not the regular Resque is to reduce the amount of SQL connections for high-load services. Using one process for many workers gives a better control to the amount of SQL connections. For using Resque please refer the original project. https://github.com/defunkt/resque/ The library adds two rake tasks over Resque: * resque:work_async for working inside the EventMachine
Crawlr is a modern Ruby web scraping framework built for respectful and efficient data extraction. Features async HTTP requests, robots.txt compliance, cookie management, proxy rotation, flexible CSS/XPath selectors, and comprehensive error handling. Designed for both simple scraping tasks and complex, large-scale data extraction projects.
llm.rb is Ruby's most capable AI runtime. It runs on Ruby's standard library by default. loads optional pieces only when needed, and offers a single runtime for providers, agents, tools, skills, MCP, A2A (Agent2Agent), RAG (vector stores & embeddings), streaming, files, and persisted state. As a bonus, llm.rb is also available for mruby. It supports OpenAI, OpenAI-compatible endpoints, Anthropic, Google Gemini, DeepSeek, xAI, Z.ai, AWS Bedrock, Ollama, and llama.cpp. It also includes built-in ActiveRecord and Sequel support, plus concurrent tool execution through threads, tasks (via async gem), fibers, ractors, and fork (via xchan.rb gem).
Pampa is a Ruby library for async & distributing computing providing the following features: - cluster-management with dynamic reconfiguration (joining and leaving nodes); - distribution of the computation jobs to the (active) nodes; - error handling, job-retry and fault tolerance; - fast (non-direct) communication to ensure realtime capabilities. The Pampa framework may be widely used for: - large scale web scraping with what we call a "bot-farm"; - payments processing for large-scale ecommerce websites; - reports generation for high demanded SaaS platforms; - heavy mathematical model computing; and any other tasks that requires a virtually infinite amount of CPU computing and memory resources.
