daemon-kit aims to simplify creating Ruby daemons by providing a sound application skeleton (through a generator), task specific generators (jabber bot, etc) and robust environment management code.
Daemon Kit aims to simplify creating Ruby daemons by providing a sound application skeleton (through a generator), task specific generators (jabber bot, etc) and robust environment management code. Using simple built-in generators it is easy to created evented and non-evented daemons that perform a multitude of different tasks. Supported generators: * XMPP bot (non-evented) * AMQP consumer (evented) * Nanite agent * Cron-style daemon * ruote remote participants

You get some patches for Blather and some classes that wrap the stuff you want from Superfeedr (entries, authors etc.). Under-the-hood, Blather uses EventMachine and Nokogiri so it’s fast and convenient. If you want to daemonize your client, daemon-kit comes ready with a blather template.
Bunnicula is a simple AMQP relay implemented as a ruby daemon (a-la daemon-kit). Similar in intent to shovel, Bunnicula is intended to enable the common messaging scenario where services and applications publish messages to an AMQP broker on the local LAN for speed and reliability which are then subsequently relayed to a remote AMQP instance by a relay process which isnt so irritable as message producers tend to be when it comes to network speed and reliability. Bunnicula can be configured via configuration file (a Ruby DSL) or, for most common configurations, through command line arguments.
