Showoff is a Sinatra web app that reads simple configuration files for a presentation. It is sort of like a Keynote web app engine. I am using it to do all my talks in 2010, because I have a deep hatred in my heart for Keynote and yet it is by far the best in the field. The idea is that you setup your slide files in section subdirectories and then startup the showoff server in that directory. It will read in your showoff.json file for which sections go in which order and then will give you a URL to present from.
Email Detected is a simple tool for verifying an email address exists. It's free and quite easy to use  .Many times as developers we were putting validation statements for checking email addresses format. This gem will complete your existing setups with validator that actually connects with a given mail server and asks if the address in question exists for real.
EnvMem allows you to dump your GC.stat information from a long-running server, then produce a simple shellscript to set up your Ruby memory environment variables to match that configuration. This improves startup time slightly and allows you finer-grain control over your memory setup. If you've ever found Ruby memory environment variables on a web page and used them to try to speed up your app, this is a better approach.

Ruby doesn't have good support for message passing between processes. One option is to make use of client-server setup by using sockets which is too much for simple message passing and other would be to use a message passing server like ZeroMQ.We decided to make FIPC to allow simpler form of IPC between 2 or more ruby processes
