This gem provides a configurable means for showing, via an updated <title> tag or CSS corner banner, what the current runtime environment is (development, staging, test, etc.) This functionality is never enabled for production, and for all other environments you can exclude specific ones.
Transaction::Simple provides a generic way to add active transaction support to objects. The transaction methods added by this module will work with most objects, excluding those that cannot be Marshal-ed (bindings, procedure objects, IO instances, or singleton objects). The transactions supported by Transaction::Simple are not associated with any sort of data store. They are "live" transactions occurring in memory on the object itself. This is to allow "test" changes to be made to an object before making the changes permanent. Transaction::Simple can handle an "infinite" number of transaction levels (limited only by memory). If I open two transactions, commit the second, but abort the first, the object will revert to the original version. Transaction::Simple supports "named" transactions, so that multiple levels of transactions can be committed, aborted, or rewound by referring to the appropriate name of the transaction. Names may be any object except nil. Transaction groups are also supported. A transaction group is an object wrapper that manages a group of objects as if they were a single object for the purpose of transaction management. All transactions for this group of objects should be performed against the transaction group object, not against individual objects in the group. Version 1.4.0 of Transaction::Simple adds a new post-rewind hook so that complex graph objects of the type in tests/tc_broken_graph.rb can correct themselves. Version 1.4.0.1 just fixes a simple bug with #transaction method handling during the deprecation warning. Version 1.4.0.2 is a small update for people who use Transaction::Simple in bundler (adding lib/transaction-simple.rb) and other scenarios where having Hoe as a runtime dependency (a bug fixed in Hoe several years ago, but not visible in Transaction::Simple because it has not needed a re-release). All of the files internally have also been marked as UTF-8, ensuring full Ruby 1.9 compatibility.
A daemon, running in background on a Linux router or firewall, monitoring the state of multiple internet uplinks and changing the routing accordingly. LAN/DMZ internet traffic (outgoing connections) is load balanced between the uplinks using Linux multipath routing. The daemon monitors the state of the uplinks by routinely pinging well known IP addresses (Google public DNS servers, etc.) through each outgoing interface: once an uplink goes down, it is excluded from the multipath routing, when it comes back up, it is included again. An uplink may be assigned to a priority group: lower priority uplinks will only be used if all higher priority ones are down. That's useful to only use pay-per-traffic uplinks if no regular uplink is working. All of the routing changes are notified to the administrator by email. ## A mirror API for Ruby In various [research][p1] [projects][p2] the advantages of having a [mirror API][p3] to separate reflection from a language implementation have been discussed, and "industry grade" implementations exist for [Java][p4] and [C#][p5]. This project aims at providing a number of specs and classes that document a mirror API for Ruby. The mirror implementation that is part of this project will use only those language facilities that are available across Ruby implementations. The specs, however, will also test behavior that cannot be provided in such a manner. The idea here is that in time, all implementations provide their own implementation of the mirror API, and all implementations collaborate on this one spec. Why do this, you ask? Because Ruby needs tools, and those tools need to be written in Ruby. If they are not, then people will be excluded from tinkering with their tools, thus impeding innovation. You only have to look at Emacs or Smalltalk to see what's possible when programmers can extend their tools, all tools, in a language they feel comfortable in. If we have a standard mirror API, all tools that are written **for** Ruby, **in** Ruby, can be shared across implementations, while at the same time allowing language implementers to use the facilities of their platform to provide optimal reflective capabilities without tying them to internals. Additional functions are to plan tasks you want to accomplish today. If you are not sure in which sequence to conduct the task you can prioritize them with a pair wise comparisson. You can time tasks with start and stop and you can finally extract tasks from a minutes of meetings file. The schedule task command will print a graphical timeline of the working day assigning the planned tasks to the timeline. Busy times are marked red. Meetings are listed with associated tasks that are assigned to the meetings. After upgrading from a version 0.0.7 or older the user asked whether to re-index the tasks. It is adviced to tar the tasks before re-indexing with $ tar cvfz tasks.tar.gz .tasks other_task_directories * start will now show a timer in the upper right corner of the screen when started with the -t (--timer) flag. $ syctask start 10 -t In order to use the task timer ncurses has to be installed as the task timer uses tput from the ncurses library. * The schedule has a heading with the schedule's date and the working time * Planned tasks are now added at or after the current time if they are not done yet.
