SQS only allows you to pull and delete 10 events at a time. This gem is greedy and will buffer events so you can process more than 10 at at time.
PostgreSQL Cursor is an extension to the ActiveRecord PostgreSQLAdapter for very large result sets. It provides a cursor open/fetch/close interface to access data without loading all rows into memory, and instead loads the result rows in 'chunks' (default of 1_000 rows), buffers them, and returns the rows one at a time.
Wordmap is a simple way to lookup data directly from disk, bypassing RAM. It uses pread (no buffering), and takes advantage of SSD's constant seek time. The data is stored in equal size "cells" making it easy to calculate where things are located based on vectors.
Readline is a really useful library for textual user interfaces. Unfortunately, the Ruby interface has very limited functionality. This gem adds access to the full line buffer during completion. The biggest milestone before 1.0 is to similarly wrap jline for jRuby, and do it such that client code doesn't need to determine it's platform ahead of time.
enumerator_io allows you to wrap an enumerator in an IO-compatible interface, enabling chunked reads and efficient memory usage. Ideal for streaming large files or processing data in real-time without buffering everything into memory.
A thin Ruby binding around ngtcp2 for the QUIC transport protocol, with LibreSSL as the TLS backend. Both are vendored via mini_portile2 at install time; no system libraries required. The API is intentionally optimized for synchronous I/O and String-based buffers. Public API is not yet stable.

U U extends Ruby’s Unicode support. It provides a string class called U::String with an interface that mimics that of the String class in Ruby 2.0, but that can also be used from both Ruby 1.8. This interface also has more complete Unicode support and never modifies the receiver. Thus, a U::String is an immutable value object. U comes with complete and very accurate documentation¹.
